How do I access journal content using my CCHMC credentials?
I have been unable to access journals with my CCHMC credentials off site, even on VPN I am on a CCHMC computer as well. Is there something I am missing that will allow me to get articles at home? Thanks
Answer
Good afternoon!
Some journal sites don't recognize affiliation and can have confusing login procedures. The easiest way to access articles via a journal's website is to install a browser extension called LibKey Nomad. Since CCHMC has a borrowing agreement with UC, you will want to take the following steps when looking for articles or browsing journals:
1. Ensure that LibKey Nomad is installed correctly.
2. Designate UC as your institution in LibKey Nomad setup
3. During each browsing session, go to the UC Libraries home page and log in using the "affiliates" tab and your CCHMC credentials.
4. Browse journal sites, databases, and any other web resource. When you find an article you'd like to read in full, click the PDF button and the PDF should load.
If you encounter articles that you'd like to reach but that we don't have access to, you can submit an InterLibrary Loan request using the purple button on the Pratt Library home page.
Please don't hesitate to reach out with further questions!
